Shop Talk on James Wright
Taking a look at the work of a formidable literary figure
Twice per year, Shop Talk takes a look at the work of a poet who has passed on.
This spring, Rodney Phillips will lead a Talk on James Wright. Wright was a contemporary of Galway Kinnell, W.S. Merwin, and Robert Bly.
We've culled two tracks from our audio collection. Listen to Wright reading "You and I Saw Hawks Exchanging the Prey" and "A Blessing" at the Poetry Center on February 21, 1973.
To the left you see a photo of James Wright taken in 1973 by LaVerne Harrell Clark.
