Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. Poster by Mari Nakano.Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities
The next meeting of A Closer Look Book Club
Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities was nominated for the Nebula Award and for Best Novel in 1975.  An elegant marriage of fiction and poetry, this slim novel has inspired musicians, visual artists, and architects.  Join Cybele Knowles on Thursday, November 12 for a discussion that promises to unravel at least some of the mysteries of this complex and philosophical masterpiece. A limited number of copies of Invisible Cities will be available for purchase in the Poetry Center library. Copies will be sold for $14; cash only. Inquire at the front desk to purchase a copy.

Join the Shelf-Reading Brigade
Would you like to increase your knowledge of contemporary poetry while having fun, enjoying pizza, and satisfying what Wallace Stevens called “the maker’s rage to order”? Join us on Tuesday, November 17 for the Poetry Center’s Shelf-Reading Brigade. Shelf reading is checking the books on the library shelves to make sure they are in the proper order. On the 17th, we will check all of the books on the main floor of the Poetry Center library. Training and pizza will be provided. We’ll meet in the library at 6 PM and will end no later than 8 PM. Space is limited to 20 shelvers and prior registration is required. To register, email wlburk@email.arizona.edu by November 15.
