University of Arizona Poetry Center Library
The Collection
Anthologies
A special emphasis of the library is anthologies. Because our collection is primarily focused on American poetry, U.S. anthologies comprise about 25% of the collection.  In the U.S. section you’ll find anthologies highlighting specific regions: California Poetry, Bay Poetics, Arizona Anthem; schools of poetry and poetry movements: The Beat Book, Cowboy Poetry, The Moderns, Postmodern American Poetry; as well as poetry focused on very specific subjects: Poems for Architects; Doing Time: 25 Years of Prison Writing.  The anthology section is subdivided into regions, because one of our foci is to represent poetry in translation from other continents, countries and cultures.  Some regions represented are International, British, Latino/Latin American, Korean, Eastern European, Dutch, Judaic and African.  We seek out anthologies that are edited or translated by significant poets, represent important historical movements in poetry, highlight underrepresented groups of U.S. and non-U.S. poets, or in some way provide insight to the world of poetry at large in a way single volumes cannot.
